Description
A decade later, the reaction of English critics was just as extreme. The Daily Telegraph said it was "an open drain, a loathsome sore unbandaged." What caused so much critical outrage was the inclusion of syphilis in the main storyline.
It was not performed again on a public stage in Britain until 1914.
Ghosts is a powerful drama in three acts that unfolds like a detective story as the secrets of family life are slowly revealed: the young inherit the sins of their fathers.
Ghosts runs at Chapter Arts Centre, Cardiff this week from 22-26 May 2012. Performances start at 7.30pm with tickets priced at £10 (£8 concessions Tuesday/Thursday only)
