“Lord, what fools these mortals be" Cardiff's hottest new theatre company presents 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' as you've never seen it before. Tickets are now available for Bare Knuckle Theatre's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' at The Gate, Cardiff between Sat 10th July and Sat 17th July 2010 and starts at 7:30. Offering a fresh twist to the Shakespeare classic, the audience can expect singing, dancing, fighting and fairies and provides the perfect backdrop to a memorable summer evening. The company showcases a wide range of Welsh talent, from Cardiff University Orchestra Leader; Marisa Wall and choreographer Ingrid Bastable to Alex McLauchlan, ex-managing director of one of the fastest growing company in Wales 'The Source'. The cast includes some of the hottest new Welsh acting talent including Alan Humphreys, Ricky Docherty and Laurence Clarke. In a case of life imitating art, Simon Riordan, the director of the play, will also be playing the role of the director of a play in the production. A part that, based on his experiences getting this together, he should be more than equipped for. Simon, Company director, says this about the endeavour: "I spent some time working as a barman and spoke to so many people who remember the glory days when they would have been the next big thing if they'd only had the right break. It sounds like a cliché but you meet them all the time - The aging beauty who everyone thought was destined to be a model, the school football star who never got the trials... I never wanted to end up being a "could have been" so it inspired me to start working on what I wanted. I've got to go out there and take risks and let an audience tell me if I'm good enough to make it as opposed to my own insecurities. So when I'm sat at a bar in twenty years time, I can say I gave it my best shot. My whole company seems to operate under the same ethos and I am lucky enough to get the opportunity to not only to start living my own dream, but hopefully support other peoples. There's so much talent in Wales, I'm looking forward to showing it to Cardiff next week" |
