BBC Orchestra invites audiences to their home for autumn concerts
BBC National Orchestra of Wales are inviting audiences into their home in Cardiff Bay, BBC Hoddinott Hall, for three concerts as part of their autumn season at the Hall.
On Monday 12 November, the Orchestra welcomes the popular violinist Tasmin Little to BBC Hoddinott Hall to perform Bruch’s magical Violin Concerto in G minor. Conducted by David Atherton, the concert also includes Elgar’s Cockaigne Overture and Rachmaninov’s Symphonic Dances.
On Friday 23 November, Grant Llewellyn conducts the Orchestra in a concert celebrating the best of Welsh composition talent – including Huw Watkins’s Concertino for violin and string orchestra (performed by Chloe Hanslip) and Tirlun, a work by the Orchestra’s Resident Composer Mark Bowden.
The Orchestra concludes its autumn season of concerts at BBC Hoddinott Hall with a Festive Afternoon Concert, on Friday 7 December, which includes performances by Welsh soloists Elin Manahan Thomas and Catrin Finch, and a variety of seasonal music – including Samuel Barber’s orchestral work based on Christmas Carols, Die Natali; and Leroy Anderson’s quintessential Christmas Festival.
